Grant coordinator
Position
Description
Responsible to: Associate Director of Development
General Duties: Assist the Development Director, Corps, and Programs in
applying for grants from the corporate, foundation and government sectors. Maintain working relationships with key
foundations in the geographic area.
1.
Assist Programs in determining funding opportunities
for service delivery, advise on levels of funding to request, who to approach
and when
2.
Work with Community Relations Committee to create
and maintain a Foundation Plan for King County to strategize approaches,
schedule writing duties and track grant awards
3.
Write and prepare grant applications to corporations
and foundations, including gathering and/or writing attachments from finance,
programs and others
4.
Work with programs and
finance department to develop government and private grant applications
5.
Work with Donor Relations and Financial Development
to optimize all foundation and corporate relations
6.
Proactively seek and secure new funding
opportunities
7.
Make final determination for grant submission
8.
Follow up acknowledgement and stewardship of
grantors, including necessary reporting to grantors as required
9.
All other duties as assigned
Community
1.
Participate in area organizations to develop job
related skills and networks.
2.
Cultivate funding sources.
3.
Identify and secure letters of support from
community organizations, government officials and board members.
4.
Research funding sources.
5.
Work with Community Relations Committee to
coordinate funding opportunities.
6.
Work with coalitions and co-applicants with The
Salvation Army to assess funding opportunities.
7.
Implement and train staff in grant writing in corps.
Qualifications:
á BachelorŐs
degree in English or related field
á Three
years experience as grant writer or equivalent writing experience
á Networking
and strong written communications skills
á Experience
working in a diverse environment
á Strong
organizational skills
á Must have
strong computer skills in Word and Excel and strong internet research skills.
