SALVATION ARMY RAISES NEARLY $40,000 TO ASSIST PEOPLE IMPACTED BY MINNESOTA BRIDGE COLLAPSE

The Salvation Army in the Twin Cities has raised nearly $40,000 to help people impacted by the horrific I-35W bridge collapse. The funds will be used to assist victims’ families and bridge survivors including helping with funeral expenses, medical bills and other unexpected costs.

The largest donation came from Target Corporation that gave $25,000. An additional $7,000 was raised through mail and online donations. Volunteer bellringers at the Uptown Art Fair raised $5,600.

In additional to financial assistance The Salvation Army is providing breakfast to recovery workers through an emergency disaster services vehicle (canteen) located near the disaster site at Stone Arch Bridge. The Salvation Army also is serving meals and offering emotional and spiritual care to survivors and family members at the Family Assistance Center.

Monetary donations also may be sent to your local Salvation Army earmarked “Disaster Relief,” made online at www.salvationarmyusa.org or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
