SALVATION
ARMY RAISES NEARLY
$40,000 TO ASSIST PEOPLE
IMPACTED BY MINNESOTA
BRIDGE COLLAPSE
The
Salvation Army in the
Twin Cities has raised
nearly $40,000 to help
people impacted by the
horrific I-35W bridge
collapse. The funds will
be used to assist
victims’ families
and bridge survivors
including helping with
funeral expenses, medical
bills and other unexpected
costs.
The
largest donation came
from Target Corporation
that gave $25,000. An
additional $7,000 was
raised through mail and
online donations. Volunteer
bellringers at the Uptown
Art Fair raised $5,600.
In
additional to financial
assistance The Salvation
Army is providing breakfast
to recovery workers through
an emergency disaster
services vehicle (canteen)
located near the disaster
site at Stone Arch Bridge.
The Salvation Army also
is serving meals and
offering emotional and
spiritual care to survivors
and family members at
the Family Assistance
Center.
