THE SALVATION ARMY RESPONDING TO SEVERE FLOODS IN ARKANSAS, OKLAHOMA AND WEST VIRGINIA |

The Salvation Army’s Southern Territory is responding to a new round of severe flooding which has impacted at least three states.
In Oklahoma, heavy rains have caused widespread flash flooding in Oklahoma City and other areas of the state.
In Arkansas, Salvation Army personnel and mobile feeding units responded to the scene of deadly floods in Pike and Montgomery counties in western Arkansas. The Salvation Army served more than 300 meals, and its officers offered emotional and spiritual care after as at least twenty people drowned in flash floods at the Albert Pike Recreation Area.
In West Virginia, the Governor has declared a state of emergency in four southern West Virginia counties after floodwaters ravaged the area, causing no deaths but leaving extensive property damage. Logan, McDowell, Mingo and Wyoming counties were most heavily affected.
The Salvation Army is prepared to provide food, hydration, clean up kits and emotional and spiritual care to first responders and survivors of the floods.
Financial donations are needed to support relief efforts. The Salvation Army asks those who want to help the individual and families affected by the floods to visit www.salvationarmyusa.org or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY and designate to Arkansas flood. Monetary donations will ensure The Salvation Army can meet the most immediate needs of those impacted by the storm. Undesignated donations are assigned by the zip code of the donor to the nearest Salvation Army location.
